Painted rocks created by Patricia Webber

Painted rocks created by Patricia Webber

On June 21, the first day of summer, we set aside serious artistic pursuits to focus on the fun of painting rocks!  Painted rocks have been popular for centuries, but recently have become a nationwide movement to help spread delight and random acts of kindness, and to encourage art in everyday life.  Painted rocks can be fanciful, inspiring, or beautiful works of art.

So, please join other league members and friends on Wednesday, June 21, 1:00 p.m., at the Bay Club for some casual fun painting rocks.  The League will provide everything you’ll need to create your painted rock:  The paint, rocks, brushes, and instruction.

Guests are welcome to attend the program and social time for $5.  Dues of $40 will provide a year of inspiring programs for both art lovers and artists of all levels. New members are always welcome!

The Port Ludlow Artists’ League welcomes nationally recognized painter, pastel artist, and teacher Susan Ogilvie to their July 19 program meeting.susan Olgivie

Ms Ogilvie’s artwork is a dynamic blend of exquisite color and compelling composition. She works both Plein Air and in the studio, but most of her art begins outdoors with her sketchbook where she explores shapes and values– all ideas of how to express the sense of place.  In the studio, she continues her artistic adventure by further developing her composition and exploring color relationships.  She describes her process as “all about exploration and discovery. The process is about listening, letting go, learning something new, and enjoying the ride.”
